Hotéis em Pollonia

Pollonia is a small fishing village on Milos's north coast, known for its sunset over the water toward Kimolos island and a row of fish tavernas along the front. Quieter than Adamas, it suits travellers wanting a calmer base with genuine village character.

Hotels in Pollonia sit along a working fishing harbour rather than a ferry port, giving the village a noticeably slower pace than Adamas roughly 13 kilometres away. Sunset draws the evening crowd here, the light dropping west over the water toward Kimolos island while boats return with the day's catch past a row of tavernas that fill quickly once the colours change. Travellers who want beachfront calm, boat trips to the nearby basalt islets and a genuinely residential feel, rather than a busier port-town rhythm, tend to find Pollonia the better match for a Milos stay.

Sea-view studios three minutes from Pollonia Beach

Porque os viajantes adoram

Three minutes to the beach made this one of the simplest bases in Pollonia, no real planning needed for a swim any time of day. We drove out to see the Catacombs of Milos one afternoon, an unusual and worthwhile detour from the usual beach routine that the kids still talk about. The sea view from the studio held up well through the stay, never blocked by anything closer to the water. A straightforward, well-placed choice for the village that did everything we asked of it without a single issue.

Luxury spa stay three minutes from Pollonia Beach

Porque os viajantes adoram

Everything about the stay felt considered, from the spa treatments to the three-minute walk to the beach each evening before dinner along the waterfront. Pollonia's quieter pace compared to Adamas made this feel like a proper retreat rather than a base for running errands between beaches and the port. The rating held up entirely once we arrived, no gap between the reviews and the reality of the stay. Worth the longer airport transfer for the payoff, and we'd book the same room again without hesitation.

Hilltop boutique stay with a private pool and spa

Beachfront boutique hotel with a spa in Pollonia

Porque os viajantes adoram

The three-minute walk to the beach and the on-site spa made this an easy, well-rounded base for the family, everyone found something to do most days without much negotiation over the plan. The boutique scale meant service felt personal rather than processed through a large resort, with the same staff greeting us by name from the second morning onward. The 13-kilometre transfer from the airport was the one planning point worth remembering ahead of arrival, otherwise everything about the stay ran smoothly from check-in to checkout.

Sea-view rooms four minutes from Pollonia Beach

Porque os viajantes adoram

The beach walk at four minutes made mornings easy, and the spa was a welcome addition on the day we drove out to see the Catacombs of Milos, an unexpected highlight of the whole trip that none of us had planned for. The Sulphur Mine landscape was unlike anything else we saw on the island, all strange colours and bare rock. A well-placed base for combining Pollonia's beach life with Milos's stranger landmarks, and one we'd recommend to anyone curious beyond the usual beach routine.

Sunset studios four minutes from Pollonia Beach

Porque os viajantes adoram

The sunset from the studio balcony alone justified staying in Pollonia over the busier port town, we watched it most evenings before heading down for dinner. The beach walk took barely four minutes, an easy nightly routine before dinner at one of the fish tavernas along the front where the catch changes daily. The 13-kilometre transfer from the airport took a bit of planning ahead of time, but the quieter pace once we arrived made it worthwhile for the whole week we stayed.

Cycladic suites with a spa in Pollonia

Porque os viajantes adoram

The suites captured the whitewashed Cycladic look we'd hoped for, and the spa was a nice addition given how much driving the island otherwise involves once you leave Pollonia proper. The trip out to Plaka at 12 kilometres was worth it for the caldeira view at sunset, one of the best we saw anywhere on Milos. Getting to the Adamas ferry port took planning given the 10-kilometre distance, but Pollonia's slower pace made up for the extra driving involved in every other part of the trip.

Five-star beachfront suites with a spa

Porque os viajantes adoram

The five-star finish showed in the details, from the spa treatments to the sea-view suite itself, a genuine step up from the studio-style stays tried elsewhere on Milos. Being right on the pebble beach meant no walk was needed for a morning swim, just a few steps from the terrace to the water. Pollonia's quieter pace compared to Adamas made the stay feel like a genuine escape rather than a base for running around the island. Worth the premium for the finish alone.

Villa under 100 metres from Pollonia Beach

Dicas locais

  • Time your evening around sunset, the light drops west over Kimolos island in a way Adamas's harbour doesn't replicate

  • Take a boat trip to the Glaronisia islets, the basalt rock formations are one of the coast's most distinctive sights
  • Plan the 13-kilometre transfer from Milos Airport ahead of arrival, taxis run less frequently than in Adamas
  • Use the local bus if staying near Glaronisia Hotel to reach Adamas without renting a car for the full week
  • Visit the Sulphur Mine or Catacombs of Milos as a half-day detour from the usual beach-and-sunset routine

Perguntas frequentes

What is the best area to stay in Pollonia?

Rooms directly on the beachfront, several under 100 metres from the sand, put guests closest to both the water and the fish tavernas, while a handful of hilltop properties trade that proximity for wider, more elevated views instead.

Is Pollonia quieter than Adamas?

Yes, Pollonia is a smaller fishing village without a working ferry port, giving it a noticeably calmer pace than Adamas, though it sits roughly 13 kilometres from Milos Airport and the main harbour, worth factoring into transfer plans.

What types of accommodation does Pollonia have?

Pollonia offers beachfront studios, family-run guesthouses, a boutique four and five-star tier with spas, and one hilltop property with a private pool, spanning a genuine range of budgets within a considerably smaller village than Adamas.

When is the best time to see Pollonia's sunset?

Sunset happens roughly an hour before dark year-round, though the clearest skies for the full colour change tend to fall in the shoulder months of May, June and September, before the summer's occasional haze sets in.

Do I need a car to stay in Pollonia?

A car or the local bus helps for day trips to Adamas, the Sulphur Mine or the Catacombs of Milos, though the village itself, its beach and tavernas, stays entirely walkable from most Pollonia hotels within a few minutes.

How far is Pollonia from Adamas?

Pollonia sits around 13 kilometres from Adamas port and Milos Airport, a genuine drive rather than a short trip, worth planning into any ferry connection or arrival transfer for a stay based in this quieter village.
