Glyfada Riviera Hotel
Small five-star on Poseidonos Avenue, a short walk from Glyfada's beaches and marina

About this hotel
Glyfada is the stretch of the Athens Riviera where Athenians come to shop, eat out and swim, and this hotel puts you on its seafront avenue rather than inside a resort compound. The nearest sand is Glyfada's Second Beach, about 300 m away: free to use, a Blue Flag beach in 2026, with a Seatrac chair that lets wheelchair users get into the water. Glyfada Marina is around 400 m from the door. For the city centre, the Paralia Glyfadas stop of tram line 7 is roughly 200 m away: ride north to Pikrodafni and change there to line 6 for Syntagma, a long trip with a change. The hotel itself is compact: a seasonal outdoor pool, a spa with sauna and steam room for over-18s, a restaurant, bars and 24-hour room service. Rooms on the Poseidonos Avenue side pick up traffic noise, a point that comes back often in guest reviews.
- Glyfada's Second Beach, free and with a Seatrac chair, about 300 m away
- Paralia Glyfadas tram stop (line 7) about 200 m away
- Seasonal outdoor pool, open from mid-May to the end of September
- Spa with sauna and steam room, for guests aged 18 and over
- Free parking on site
- Glyfada Marina about 400 m away
Our take
Poseidonos Avenue runs right past the entrance, and that shapes the whole stay: the beach, the marina and Glyfada's shopping streets are a short walk away, but street-side rooms hear the traffic. I would book Glyfada Riviera Hotel for a few days of sea and evenings out on the Athens Riviera, ideally between mid-May and the end of September, when the outdoor pool is open. I would not pick it as a base for daily visits to the Acropolis: the tram to Syntagma needs a change at Pikrodafni and takes a long time. With a free beach 300 m away, treat the pool as a cool-off between swims in the sea rather than the main attraction. A score of 7.7 across 421 reviews fits that picture: a well-placed small hotel, not a full resort.
- ✓Ask for a room away from Poseidonos Avenue when you book: traffic noise on the street side is the complaint that recurs most in recent guest reviews.
- ✓For the centre, walk about 200 m to the Paralia Glyfadas stop, take tram line 7 north to Pikrodafni and change there to line 6, which ends at Syntagma.
- ✓The outdoor pool only opens from mid-May to the end of September; outside those months, the sauna and steam room are the hotel's wellness offer.
- ✓Glyfada's Second Beach, about 300 m away, is free and has a Seatrac chair for wheelchair access to the water; it fills up on summer weekends, so go on a weekday morning.
- ✓Parking on site is free for guests, which makes the hotel an easy first or last night if you are driving a rental car from Athens airport, about 26 km away.
Why we love it
- Beach, marina and Glyfada's shops all within walking distance
- A small hotel of fewer than 50 rooms rather than a large resort
- A sauna and steam room for an adults' break after the beach
- A tram stop close by for the coast and, with one change, Syntagma
Why guests love itGlyfada's Second Beach, free to use and about 300 m from the door, is why, for families, the location does more work than the hotel. It has a Seatrac chair for access to the water, and the marina and the shopping streets are close enough for an evening walk with children. The hotel side is thinner: the outdoor pool only opens from mid-May to the end of September, and the spa does not admit guests under 18, so the spa-and-pool promise really concerns the parents. Public beaches in Glyfada fill up on summer weekends, so weekday mornings are the easier time to go with small children. I would book it with older children for a short beach stay combined with Athens, asking for a room away from Poseidonos Avenue. With toddlers who need a shallow pool and on-site entertainment, I would choose a resort-style hotel instead.
